About Diana Drăgan-Chirilă, born in 1977 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania diana.dc@gmail.com+40-745-518248 Visual artist with the position of associate professor at the University of Art and Design, Cluj, Romania, Department of Photo-Video-Computerized Image Processing with a PhD degree in visual arts as well as Bachelor of Arts obtained at the same university. She also holds a Master’s degree obtained at the Scuola Politecnica di Design, Milan, Italy. As a visual artist, the media she uses to express herself are photography, experimental photography, graphics / mixed-media, digital image processing, experimental videos, multimedia/interactive projects. Her work transcends conventional boundaries, pushing the limits of visual storytelling and challenging the viewer to explore the nuances of the personal experience, projecting it in more general, human experience in novel and thought-provoking ways. She creates work with graphical aesthetic using traditional and alternative processes. She also works in a tactile, intuitive manner to push the boundaries of both analogue and digital practices, challenging preconceptions and sparking introspection. Through the fusion of diverse media, soundscapes, and visual textures, she aims to create immersive experiences that transcend the traditional boundaries of narrative structure. Through the convergence of experimental photography, video, and multimedia, she aims to offer a transformative experience that challenges perceptions. Play and experiment is integral to her practice, and throughout her work she embraces the simple, the unseen, the unspeakable, the inner conflict, the understated, to address themes of memory, identity, family, home.
